I've just started using Amarok: I added tracks to my playlist, then saved it, then added more tracks. When I click the Save button again, it saves a new playlist. How do I overwrite the previous playlist I just saved?

There is no way to do that and it's not something we'll add either.
The problem is that you are using the playback queue as a playlist editor which it's not intended to be. Normally you should add tracks directly to the saved playlist in the left column. It's not possible to do that from the collection, since it's in the same column, but it it possible to drag tracks from the playback queue to a saved playlist. Instead you could also just delete the old copy. |

If the playback queue isn't intended to be a playlist editor, then why is there a save to playlist button? I don't see the logic of allowing me to save a playback queue as a playlist only once. |

Well, there should be an easy way to build a saved playlist initially. With the minimal screen real-estate and coding effort it was just easy to implement and it's easy to use. Amarok's playback queue (confusingly called "The Playlist" for historical reasons) is only meant to contain tracks that will or have been played, using it as a playlist editor at the same time is just not possible without interrupting the regular playback progression through the list. In Amarok tracks should be playing all the time, editing playlists is an additional feature. |
