Skips files on indexing

Sun Jul 10, 2011 12:33 pm
Hi guy's
I searched the web for suggestions but can't find anything, only issues caused by outdated versions.
I'm using Amarok Version 2.4.1
KDE 4.6.4. All installed fresh from FreeBSD ports a week ago.

It seems amarok don't like files with chars like ôãçíÉáé and similar.
The scanner is skipping approx 10% of my files, if one of those chars are in the dir name, he skips the entire folder.
If I open those directory's using Play Media, amarok is able to open and play those files.
Easytag, clementine and other programs can see the entire collection.

This happen with mysql enabled or not.
I tried to set env variables to start amarok in Portuguese, which include almost all the offending chars, but didn't do any better.
Starting amarok with --debug didn't show anything strange in the log until I try to remove some of the offending folders from the collection.
Code: Select all
amarok:     [WARNING] [SqlScanResultProcessor] Found urls entry without directory. A phantom track. Removing "amarok-sqltrackuid://6315cd34dc6378306d7140b28a13be09"
amarok:     [SqlScanResultProcessor] deleteTrack "amarok-sqltrackuid://6315cd34dc6378306d7140b28a13be09" url id 235748
amarok:     [WARNING] [MountPointManager] Device  0  not in database, this should never happen!

I'm lost here :(
Thanks all in advance.

It looks like something's gone wrong with the UTF support. Either you've somehow managed to compile KDE/Amarok without UTF support, or possibly your filesystem is using another encoding for some reason. I don't know FreeBSD so I can't really provide any more specific suggestions, but it's definitely a problem with your setup.

Thx Sentynel for the reply, but I solved the problem simply setting LC_ALL=en_US.ISO8859-1
Now I'm enjoying my full collection in amarok :)
