Hello, I seem to have a problem with the progress bar not showing the true times of mp3 files. I thought if I added the moodbar this might fix the issue. No, it did not work, and the moodbar also will not work.
Any way I have mp3's that go for hours (DJ-Sets) and the progress bar only shows the first half hour, and stops moving when it reaches it's stated time but keeps playing the track, this makes it impossible to search/skip. I am kurrently (pun intended) running Kubuntu 11.04 with all current updates and Amarok Version 2.4.1 Using KDE 4.6.2 (4.6.2) I do not want to install "vlc backends" yada yada, as Dragon Player is now awesome for my video needs, g-streamer is installed. It took me half an hour to search-out how to get Amarock to recognise different Drives and Partitions, but this "progress bar" issue has taken quite some time longer. There are also issues with the playlists but I will, either, create a new topic thread for that or search out an existing one. Thanks in advance Phonic-Photon... PS mood bar now works. Well, despite you not wanting to install another backend, I am sorry to tell you that the issue is caused by the phonon gstreamer backend. Currently both the gstreamer and the vlc backend are well maintained and Dragon Player should work well with either one.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thanks for the prompt-ish reply. I have been doing some searching and thought if I could just open the tag and see the time settings for the mp3 in an tag editor, as Amarok kept playing the track even after the progress bar stopped, it may give me some help. So I installed Easytag from the repo's but it won't let me edit time values. All the mp3's that are not showing correct times are from the same source so it may well be the tracks themselves and not the backends or Amarok. My apologies for the assumption it was either. So now I'm off to search out how to edit existing time values in mp3's. EDIT: I've done some more searching and in doing so tried to see if Kate could read the tag (long shot- never worked) any way I saw that Exaile was another installed player and it does read the correct time of those mp3's so (for my system) it's not an issue with the gstreamer as exaile plays and displays the correct time values using that backend. I'm sorry to say that by a process of elimination Amarok (and Easytag) seem to use some part of KDE thats seemingly buggy as I'm an end user and no programmer I could not begin to know where to look. |

Easytag doesn't use any KDE parts at all, because it is a gtk-based application. You should load these files into mp3diags and perhaps you will find broken/unknown streams, damaged xing headers or incorrect vbr data.

Thank you Dieter I'll look in to it and see what comes of it.

Exaile uses Phonon? I don't think so, it is a GTK+ application. If you really want to compare with another application using Phonon the try Dragonplayer.

Dieter, your diagnosis is correct it was a VBR issue in the mp3's themselves. Thanks for the help. |
