Hi,

I have about 200 - 300 songs in my playlist and scrolling trough it is rather slow. By that I mean a little stuttery and slow to react when I pull with the mouse. In comparison the local collection list moves lightning fast. Is there any way to speed this up or will I need a faster machine?

Also,

when I pull a track from my local collection to my playlist, an overlay appears over the middle section (current track etc..), this always slows down the machine a little, is there any way (command line or something?) to disable this?

The playlist isn't really designed for having large numbers of tracks in it. If you're on a slow machine it might struggle with that few. You're much better off using tools like the dynamic playlist to keep the number of tracks actually present in the playlist at once down.

You can hide the context view in which those options appear, but I don't believe there's a way to disable the context dropping alone.
