hi, i'm new. i either lose the record of the media i have added when i restart amarok or it takes ages to load up. i have alot of songs but still i must be doing something wrong.

i tried the following command

ln -s /media/"My Book" /Desktop

which didn't make a soft link appear on the desktop, even though when i retyped the command i got the error message that it already existed.

i then tried to configure amarok and add the Desktop to collection folders but this changed nothing - even though i do actually have some mp3s on the desktop - these remained unavailable.


more generally - when i have tried the add media button before, i get a list of files but it seems like this needs to be repopulated for about an hour everytime i reload amarok - even-though i did not have the watch folders for changes option selected.


also i seem unable to find the menu bar - tools and help etc. since since installing the latest version of amarok. i can still configure because the button for that still appears elsewhere.

any help??
