Hi,
I suscribed to japanesepod101.com basic feed (non-free suscription). In that feed (ITPC) are ~500 mp3 files and for each of those up to 3 pdf. Amarok has clearly performance trouble with it. It is already working for more than an hour at 100% CPU. Amarok responds very slowly. Has anyone experience with large feeds and Amarok? And should this be reported as bug report? In my opinion this should not clog up amarok or the computer. So far no error has occured, will post if it was not successful in the end. |

Amarok 2.4.0 using KDE 4.6.2
Now after 3 hours the progress bar lower right was still stuck at 24%. After killing Amarok and restarting the same happens again when I try to look at the podcast. After clicking the small arrow (>) it took ~1 minute @ 100% CPU to show the list of available podcasts. Any interaction (selecting the first episode) takes 30s. Attached the amarok window after 1h (running on Ubuntu, but its the same on my Kubuntu netbook) Edit: Amarok process takes 70 Mb memory. Plenty free (1.5 Gig), also hard disk plenty space. |

Now after leaving the computer on the whole night cpu was down to 0%. Amarok looked peaceful. But the moment I selected an episode it went to 100% for ~10s.
I then tried to select multiple episodes, but its absolutely not responsive. If it is any indication. .kde/share/apps/amarok/mysqle/amarok/podcastepisodes.MYD is 6.8 MB large. |

I have filed a bug report concerning the performance of amarok with large feeds. Actually the feed in question has 6000 items.
To conclude: It works, you can download episodes, but after every click one has to wait 1-5 minutes for amarok to react. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283022 |

Amarok 2.4.0 is very old. Any chance you can update to something more recent? Stable is 2.4.3.
I have lots of podcasts, and don't experience the difficulties you describe. Valorie |
