Hello,
i've Amarok 2.4.1 on Mandriva 2011.0 32bit, KDE 4.6.5. When i 'm browsing files with amarok i can see the *.flac. I think is not a problem with backends (installed vlc and gstreamer, this last as preferred) because with other player all works fine. If i add the entire folder to playlist i can play the flac files, they are in my collection too. Any suggestion for this problem? Why amarok skip flac files in file browser? Thank you. |

it's a Phonon backend problem, change your preferred backend and they should show

ok,
i installed phono-xine and it works fine, fixing my trouble. But is a solution that can't satisfy me because the deprecation of xine as backend. Mandriva 2011 is shipped with kde 4.6.5 and amarok 2.4.1, i made some tries with openSuse 11.4 as live os and i find the same problem. I see that you have opensuse and KDE 4.7.x, does it works better than 4.6.x? than you! POST EDIT Where i can find changelog about phonon-vlc? |

do you have this Flac problem with both the VLC and Gstreamer backends ? I can't remember which but one of them I recall fixes this (I have no Flacs). Also, Amarok is at 2.4.3 and you should upgrade
this is the 4.7 announcement http://www.kde.org/announcements/4.7/ and each update since closes a variety of bugs and improves performance - I think it's better and you shouldn't have issues if you upgrade with 2 caveats: 1) if you have issues with your Plasma desktop you may need to reset it defaults and reconfigure and 2) I believe Kmail2 is still beta quality no idea where phonon-vlc change log is, you can look at the git revisions https://projects.kde.org/projects/kdesu ... /revisions |

I very much doubt that you can't see FLAC files with the VLC backend, it shows perfectly fine here. This is a known bug of the gstreamer backend though.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
