I have Kubuntu 11.10 for about fortnight. It seems just fine. One problem that bothers me is that Amarok - though it works - does N-O-T show the NAME of the ongoing track from the net-radio station, a thing which every player should do at all times. I've instaled Kubuntu Restricted Extras. Any ideas are most welcome.

Try switching the Phonon backend. Install phonon-backend-vlc and then go to settings > configure Amarok > playback > configure Phonon > backend and move VLC to the top of the list.
