toolbar in context view is missing

Thu Feb 02, 2012 3:21 pm
Hello, please help me.
Just like the screenshoots below, I think there is something wrong with my amarok which is compiled via gentoo portage. :( The toolbar in the context view could not be found. If I delete all applets in context view, it tells me to add some using the toolbar. But where is the toolbar?
Amarok is emerged with USEs "cdda ofa opengl semantic-desktop utils -daap -debug -embedded -ipod -lastfm", and is using an external mysql server.

PS: After deleting the amarok config files in ~/.kde4/share/apps and ~/.kde4/share/config, the problems still remains. ???

This is a regression caused by KDE 4.8, we already sent a patch out to the packagers some time ago, please ask your distribution to provide an update.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thank you for your timely reply. Could you show me where the patch is, please? So that I can report a bug to Gentoo KDE team.

We sent it to the KDE packagers list, the Gentoo packager is subscribed to it.

Thanks again.
The list archive is not available to the public, so I have to wait the guys to update ebuilds.

Is there somewhere we can get the patch or the code with the fix?

This is fixed on Kubuntu since quite some time as well.

All our code is on http://quickgit.kde.org/index.php?p=ama ... &a=summary, you can search for the specific patch in the shortlog view.

I must have accidentally selected Ubuntu when signing up, but I'm not actually a user. I've updated my profile.

Thanks, I think I found the particular commit (I haven't recompiled yet, mind you): http://quickgit.kde.org/index.php?p=amarok.git&a=commit&h=1b2e221a9854d0ae377b04478fe8000c138c3511

I'm not actually a Ubuntu user. I looked to see how I can change my profile so it shows a different distro but the Ubuntu icon seems unchangeable.

You need the commit after that as well (b3d81df5d7131676fdc7bebbb5aae10b200221fa) due to a typo in that commit.

The OS displayed is a drop-down box in the profile page in the user control panel.

Thanks, I just applied both patches and am compiling.

UPDATE: Applying both patches gives you a working context toolbar in Amarok 2.5.0. There is still a problem with the context widgets being displayed at the wrong dimensions until the Amarok window is resized, but I can live with that.

Hi,

I'm facing the same problem as mentioned in this topic, but I don't know at all how to solve it. I tried getting the fix using the Ubuntu depo, but it ain't available there. I downloaded the source of the fix, but I don't know what to do with it... is there a tutorial anywhere that I could follow?

Thanks!

Make sure you have the kubuntu backports PPA enabled and redownload Amarok 2.5 from there, this is fixed since quite some time there.

thanks a lot!!!! I did uninstall/re-install a couple of times, but it didn't work until now... ? This time, I did reboot before the new installation. I'm so happy to get my context window back! :-)
