The default behavior is to list songs in the form "# - Artist - Album - Title". However, I'm using a 10-inch netbook, so the line often gets cut off before the song title is even displayed. Is there a way to change this behavior?

There is a wrench on the top left of the Local Music pane, there you can modify what is displayed.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

The only labeling options I see in there are to show years, cover art, and track numbers. The others are all options to set levels for sorting.

You can change the order there as well, look again:

Remove the Year, cover and track number, then set the first level to album and the second and third to none. You will have the album and inside just the track name.

levels:
1st=Album
2nd=none
3rd=none

are you sure that 2nd and 3rd levels are none?

Yes. I played around with it a bit and noticed that it only happens to tracks that have no album artist tag set.

I'm guessing that these albums that have no album artist tag set have multiple artists

Ah, yes, you are correct. Would still be nice to have the option to disable that for devices with small screen sizes. Found an entry in the bugtracker regarding this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276039

...so not currently possible.

If the number of albums affected aren't that great and they can easily be identified it might be worthwhile to add the album artist tag

True. I could get around it by setting it to "Various Artists," and I suppose I will for the time being, as I don't have too many affected albums. (Though this behavior would actually be preferred for an album that had various artists.)

are they really "various artist" which in Amarok speak is a compilation or a single artist's album with guests on some tracks in which case there is an actual album artist

I've got a few of both. But if I were to have a compilation with the album artist set to "Various Artists," it would hide the artists, which is... not exactly the desired behavior. I seem to remember a few players that would automatically tag tracks like that, but I could be mistaken. The current behavior works well in this case, but not if you have a bunch of albums with guest tracks that are untagged.

My music library is currently relatively small, so it's easy enough to work around all this for now.
