Trying to update Amarok

Wed Mar 21, 2012 3:58 pm
Hi,

I'm trying to update Amarok 2.4 to 2.5 in Ubuntu 10,10 so I'm getting this:

tirengarfio@tirengarfio-laptop:~ $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
[sudo] password for tirengarfio:
Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --primary-keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv E4DFEC907DEDA4B8A670E8042836CB0A8AC93F7A
gpg: requesting key 8AC93F7A from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: key 8AC93F7A: "Launchpad Kubuntu Updates" not changed
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1

Any idea?

Nothing wrong with that :)

Now you just need to actually run sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, else it will not bring you new packages in.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks! I did what you say but when I start amarok (writing just amarok from the prompt) the 2.4 version is opened. I expected the 2.5..

This is the output:

Ubuntu 10.10 is quite old, and up-to-date versions of KDE packages are not backported for it. You will need to be running an up-to-date version of Ubuntu (11.10) in order to get Amarok 2.5 from backports.

You can't. 10.10 does not have sufficiently up-to-date KDE packages to run Amarok 2.5. You need to use a more recent version.
Note: 10.10's support period expires next month, so you would be well advised to update anyway.
