Hi kde folks,
I tried to run SHOUTcast stream (http://188.165.225.153:8000) but Amarok told me "amarok requires an additional plugin to decode this file" I chose "Search" and waited forever but nothing changed! I'm still unable to play any kind of streams ![]() Any suggestion? Screenshot ![]() |

works for me, gonna asume you're using gstreamer phonon backend and missing a plugin, open your package manager and make sure you have all available gstreamer plugins installed OR try the VLC phonon backend

The phonon-backend-gstreamer is known to have problems with streams, you should use the phonon-backend-vlc instead.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I installed all gstreamer plugins but I still get same issue ![]()
After trying VLC backend I didn't get error messages but still not playing the streams!!!! PS VLC backend doesn't support the equalizer...that's too bad Screenshots http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/3688/snapshot8e.png http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/2349/snapshot9w.png |

I forgot to mention that I'm using
Amarok 2.4.3 KDE 4.7.4 |

I just tried your stream http://188.165.225.153:8000 in the current git-build, with no problems. However, I needed to install "kubuntu-restricted-extras" first in my new 12.04 Kubuntu install. So be sure you have all the necessary codecs installed for gstreamer-backend. As I understand it, the vlc backend needs no extra codecs.
Perhaps you should try updating Amarok to 2.5? We'll be releasing 2.6 soon! |

I will notice that it claims to need the type "text/html" which indicates the stream isn't commencing at all - but trying to show a web page. What happens when you visit that URL in a web browser on your system? You might be subject to geographical restrictions.

OH, wait, I missed completely that you were talking about a Shoutcast stream, you need a script for that, else it will not play due to Shoutcast's API conditions. Please have a look here: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/SH ... ent=116823

Do you have another player that you can try? sMplayer & VLC both work for me. if they also don't work I would agree with bcooksley that it is a geographical restriction

I tried Streamtuner it's working well ![]() |

Well, Streamtuner is optimized for Shoutcast, please try another media player, not a a stream browser.
