Hello,
The on-the-fly transcode feature when copying to another collection used to work just fine until recently. The setting (transcode to ogg) is still intact but when actually copy the tracks I'm being confronted with the codec selection dialog. Everything but FLAC, Apple Losles and WMA is greyed out. As I said, it used to work just fine. Could I be missing any dependencies? Thanks! |

Well, what did you change?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Nothing! (which is not true of course)
I use the transcode feature not very often and my Arch linux distribution have frequent package updates. I can't tell what change could have caused it... (I remember a gstreamer update that came in recently. current version is 0.10 with phonon-gstreamer 4.6.2) |

The transcoding uses ffmpeg. Check your ffmpeg installation is functional, including external libmp3lame and libvorbis.

libvorbis and lame are both installed:
https://www.archlinux.de/?page=PackageD ... gname=lame https://www.archlinux.de/?page=PackageD ... =libvorbis but:
Neither of them present here. But I don't know, should they? |

Try running ffmpeg -formats and check the vorbis and mp3 lines to see whether libvorbis and libmp3lame respectively are listed as encoders.

Seems not so, only
So it is problem with the build configuration of ffmpeg? Full output:

Sorry, try ffmpeg -codecs. I gave you the wrong command.

With Amarok launched in debug mode (--debug) is anything relevant output which may indicate why particular codecs are being disabled / not offered?

Nothing I'm aware off, but amarok produces way to much debug output to scan through manually. I try to redirect it to a file, but "amarok --debug 2>&1 > amarok.debug" had no effect (???) If I were able to redirect ouput I could search through it and post it here....

I have found "&> /path/to/file" to be more effective in some cases.

Ok, that worked. The complete log is at http://pastebin.com/sDzzhm2x
I did: Start Amarok. Mount external mp3 player (mount not initiated within amarok) Wait for amarok to coun the tracks Selected an album, copy to collection, the transcode selection dialog appeared, with ogg and mp3 greyed out. Cancel the dialog. Quit Amarok. I did not find anything interesting in the output. Thanks! |
