The Amarok EQ - what frequencies?

Thu Aug 08, 2013 9:31 am
Is someone able to label the Amarok EQ's bands for me? I'd like to approximate my old Media Player settings to suit a few different sets of headphones I have.

Thanks.

Which Amarok version, phonon-backend-gstreamer version and KDE version do you use? Please give as many basic details as possible.

FWIW, this bug was fixed for the upcoming 2.8 version: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=241874

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

@Mamarok: I think you misunderstood the question.

Normally the EQ should show the frequency for each band instead of the undescriptive labels "Band 1, "Band 2", etc. The problem is this bug:

Anyway you can see the frequencies on this older screenshot:

Thanks. I'm using Linux Mint 15 with KDE 4.10.5, Amarok 2.7.0, and Gstreamer as its backend. Yes, it just says 'Band 1', 'Band 2' etc. The pre-ampo band dopes nothing too but at a guess someone has already pointed that out.

I'm happy with what I've learnt here and look forward to 2.8.

Hi, Im having the same problem. Not showing the frequency under each band, and the pre-amp slide is not moving. Im using Amarok 2.8, KDE 4.11.2 and phonon-backend-gstreamer is 4.4.7.0really4.6.3-0ubuntu2.

I saw on a somewhere forum replies, that phonon-backend-xine is needed, since Im n00b on this I didnt even knew where to look for it, so havent try that.

This is an awesome player, and would hate to find another one just for this. Thanks

Well, the Xine backend is dead since 3 years, you certainly don't need that, you must have misread. What you need is the phonon-backend-gstreamer, and the fact that frequencies don't show is related to this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=280318

Did you actually read the bug report? This needs to be implemented in the gstreamer backend. I am sure they will appreciate any developer helping with this :)
