Hello,

i've just done a fresh KDE 4.12.4 installation on my Arch machine. Hardware configuration is a Thinkpad 440s with a 1920x1080 display in a docking station. Primary display is an external 1920x1200.

Everytime I start amarok (not when opening from the systray) the window appears on the primary display using the entire width but just about top 1/3 of the height. I maximize the window, close the app and open again, ....
amarokrc:
Code: Select all
[MainWindow]
Height 1080=406
Height 1200=406
State=AAAA/wAAAAD9AAAAAQAAAAAAAAd8AAABTfwBAAAAA/sAAAAkAE0AZQBkAGkAYQAgAFMAbwB1AHIAYwBlAHMAIABkAG8AYwBrAQAAAAAAAAHVAAAAzgEAAAX7AAAAGABDAG8AbgB0AGUAeAB0ACAAZABvAGMAawEAAAHYAAAC0QAAAZYBAAAF+wAAABoAUABsAGEAeQBsAGkAcwB0ACAAZABvAGMAawEAAASsAAAC0AAAAM4BAAAFAAAAAAAAAU0AAAAEAAAABAAAAAgAAAAI/AAAAAEAAAACAAAAAgAAABYATQBhAGkAbgBUAG8AbwBsAGIAYQByAQAAAAD/////AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYAFMAbABpAG0AIABUAG8AbwBsAGIAYQByAAAAAAD/////AAAAAAAAAAA=
ToolBarsMovable=Disabled
Width 1920=1921

I also tried to delete that section, but the behavior persists.

There is a bug report out there, but it wa closed due to not being reproducible. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322347 If you think that the fault is somewhere else, I would appreciate a pointer.

Thx!

Well, I reopened the report, as it still also happens for me, in current git, v2.8.0-309-g4a29769

Do you also use a multi-monitor configuration?

Yes, I have 2 screens. Mind you, the fact that it opens on the "wrong" screen doesn't depend on Amarok, that is probably on the KDE level, I would guess KWin

I've activated "Active screen follows mouse", Amarok opens on the correct screen.

I think this behaviour (not remembering window positions) might be related to multi-monitor configuration. I have a somewhat similiar behavior with kmail.

Where did you activate this? I can't find that option

System Settings -> Window Behavior (Fensterverhalten) -> Window Behavior (Fensterverhalten) -> At the very bottom.
