for quite some time I had Ultimate Lyrics working quite fine but recently it started to degrade somehow.

Most times it's just searching the entire song, not having a timeout. Pressing the reload button seems to have no effect, neither starting a new search when it timeouts, nor any visible effect on a running search. Capturing network traffic reveals it actually searches at a couple of domains, but I didn't look further into it. Shuffling search sites does not help.

I also tried Google Lyrics as well as the builtin Lyricwiki. None work.

have you tried removing it, restarting Amarok and then reinstalling the script

EDIT: Well, may have gotten a bit better, but basically no real improvement.
