Hi,

I have always been curious as in why AMZ Downloader is shipped with Amarok. What is there status? Is Amazon Music an official sponsor? Are they an ethical music store we want to support and promote? If it is only to help those users that use restricted services then should it not be shipped separately so that users can make a choice.

Thanks.

Erm, we offered the choice to people to download their music from Amazon, if they wished to do so. The AMZ downloader is free software, it is up to the user if they want to use the download service or not, but without the AMZ downloader that could simply not be done.

And no, Amazon is not a sponsor, and the whole discussion is moot, as Amazon changed their conditions for downloading music anyway, it will be removed in the next release.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks. That is a good thing, I guess.
