if you right click in Dolphin a music file and select Open With -> Amarok does it play?

what type of file are you trying to play?

what phonon backend is selected?

does the file play in Dragon? other players?

I can play any song in other players.

I am trying to play MP3.

Now I try the .flac and works on Amarok.

How can I play MP3 on Amarok??

About phonon backend, I dont know what it is.

phonon backend: systemsettings -> Multimedia -> Audio and Video Settings -> Backend

my guess is you are using the gStreamer backend and are missing the mp3 plugin which be named something like gstreamer-plugin-fluendo-mp3

you could also install and select the vlc phonon backend
