engine problems

i cant use gstreamer, it says i have to choose an output plugin, but the list is empty...
xine doesnt show as an option even though i got the latest version of it installed.
i can only use aRts..
im using suse 9.1, ive installed amarok with yast along with my kde 3.3 upgrade and included the amarok_gstreamer plugin.
any ideas?

When you compile amaroK check that it will compile the xine-engine. If it won't investigate. If you obtained packages then they didn't include the xine-engine.

Your gstreamer installation has no plugins installed. Please read our faq. If you still are stuck after that I suggest reading the gstreamer documentation so you can fix your gstreamer installation. Hint: gst-register.

I had this problem, then I installed a gstreamer output plugin (alsasink) and the problem went away for some reason. :)
