Musicbrainz tagging entire collecti

Tue Oct 05, 2004 9:05 pm
Is there an option to let Musicbrainz re-tag my entire collection ?

The tags on my current mp3 collection are quite a mess, and selecting every file and retagging it is kind of a lot work, I'd like to have amarok re-tag the entire collection using musicbrainz, but there doesn't seem to be such a function, maybe a nice future feature ?

Doing this at folder level or for a selection of the playlist would be great.

Other feature related to this is file renaming, but I don't know if that's in the planed scope for amarok.

This would be my number #1 feature request.

Still not inside 1.2 beta4 :( Could this be done via scripts?

This would
a) Be a DoS attack against the MB server(s)
b) Put Britney Spears in the middle of your Rage Against the Machine album, as those fingerprints often match other songs, and gives the wrong result. (1/10 times, by my experience).

I like MB, but wouldn\'t dream about letting it do the work automatically.

JuK can retag everything, try that. But then come back to amaroK to play the music.

Amarok can download all the stuff from MB and then let user choose if its right or wrong!

Press Yes or No is much easier than click for complete full tags for every song..

I\'ve got to add a \"me too!\" on this song. I\'ve got a lot of doubles, and if Amarok helped me to re-tag everything via MB, it\'d be quite nice. Although, one of my other problems is that I have a lot of songs in MPC, so I can\'t really expect MB to work with those tracks.

Well, I guess the point is, it\'d be very nice if this worked, because I\'d be able to fix up a lot of things.
