gapless playback

Sun Oct 31, 2004 4:29 am
First off, Amarok is the coolest player I've ever used... Well Done!

My only comment is that I can't seem to get gapless playback between tracks.

I've tried both playback transition settings with 0ms, and they're about the same: a small gap between tracks.

Is this normal? I'm playing ogg files.

Thanks

depends on the engine, xine engine can have good transition time, some people get a delay though, I don't understand that. GStreamer engine should have very good transition time, but I haven't tested it lately. aRts engine will give a transition time that is bad always. Not much can be done for the aRts engine, hence we don't recommend its use.

Ok... I'm using aRts, so that's probably the reason...

thanks

I\'ve tried both Gstreamer and Xine and haven\'t been able to get it gapless. Interestingly, XIne seems to jump ahead into the next track rather than start at the beginning. Wierd. Are there any of the crossfading settings which could be fiddled with to get it to work?

I think this is quite important as a lot of my music is mixed.

Other than this amaroK is amazing. Without a doubt the best media player I have ever used and the reason why I boot into Linux on a day to day basis.
