hello dear overworked dev.s,
there is an excellent tool called streamtuner http://www.nongnu.org/streamtuner/ that provides the user with extensive library of streaming audio libraries (meaning tons of internet radio-stations). i've searched everywhere on the amarok menus, and didn't find an option to fetch a stream-media stations list. can you please add some kind of support for it? (this function exists in windows-media-player, winamp, and iTunes, and IMHO is really nice ! ) thanks in advance, mangar |

Of course we know about StreamTuner. One of the reasons for not supporting it is that the most important stream directory (shoutcast.com) does not allow reusing information from their site. It's clearly stated in the their disclaimer. All the other stream directories are more or less ****. We believe the user might as well open the shoucast.com site in his browser, and just click on the "Tune in" buttons. amaroK then starts playing the stream immediately. It's quite comfortable and I use it myself.

ouch
streamtuner can also be used for lots of others radio-sites, too. Would that be forbidden too? |
