I agree, but you should strip the lyrics of images and other html formating!

Hi,
First of all, many thanks for creating this wonderfull application!! When I introduced amaroK 1.1 to my parnter, the impression was so big that our computer moved to the living room, and our 400+ cd-collection was ripped to Ogg and banned to the attick ![]() Thanks to SuSE I now have amaroK 1.2 beta from rpm, wich runs fine (with just a few quircks, which i\'ll put into a bugreport later). The new lyrics tab is fantastic! What is the source of it? I wanna know, so I can submit new lyrics that are not yet available ![]() (maybe a button that allows you to submit new lyrics would be great as wel B) ) Kind regards, Rinse |

xatix said \" There IS a button to add lyrics! (CVS atleast)\".
When one uses the version from cvs one has the newest version. That probarly means that xatix uses a newer version than you, since he uses a testing version instead of one of the offical releases. You can then try to get the cvs version (CVS Snapshot at the left side), or wait until a new stable release with that feature comes out. |

The link \"Add Lyrics\" will appear when the lyrics are not found or the suggested lyrics is displayed.
Add lyrics is usualy the last link on the page. Clicking it will popup a webbrowser with the page where you can add lyrics. Artist, title, year and album fields are normaly filled by amarok automaticaly. NOTE: The Add Lyrics link/button was added AFTER the release of amarok 1.2-beta2. It is only in CVS atm. |

Here\'s a general suggestion for the lyrics and maybe album covers:
http://kapheine.hypa.net/musicextras/ Musicextras is a program for automatically retrieving extra information for songs. Currently it retrieves lyrics, album covers, artist images, artist bio, and years active. If you guys arent using this already -- it would be cool to have, IMHO, and also might stimulate development of plugins for more sites. Pasting from the API docs ----------- It should be very easy to incorporate the data fetching in your own program, however. Here is a simple example. Suppose you want to wanted to print out the lyrics to a song. require \'musicextras/song\' require \'musicextras/musicsites/_load_sites\' # This loads the plugins MusicExtras::MusicSite::activate_plugins puts MusicExtras::Song.new(\'I Palindrome I\', \'They Might Be Giants\').lyrics To see a list of available accessors after your plugins are loaded, try this: require \'musicextras/artist\' require \'musicextras/musicsites/_load_sites\' MusicExtras::MusicSite::activate_plugins puts MusicExtras::Artist.accessors That?s it.[b] |

well, it would add a ruby requirement to amaroK. I would be fine with that (ruby is fun stuff) but it would make some people (the osnews crowd) aghast.
amaroK devs are planning some sort of plugin system, this is the kinda thing that would make sense as a plugin.
