I recently went through hell adding native ALSA support to a PC-based X Terminal and two part-time Macintosh X Terminals. G-streamer and AmaroK are great! I\'m using esd on the terminals. ARTs won\'t even compile ALSA support anymore on my 2.6.9 Linux Kernel.
Anyway, stereo sound at 44Khz puts about 300 packets per second on the network. AmaroK\'s bouncing bar analyzer in the play window consumes about 550 packets per second! That\'s nothing, though. I tested a shockwave Flash animated \'movie\' which consumed almost 8000 packets per second! |
