No, you do not need kdevelop. I talk about the C header files of X. I cannot tell you how this package is called for your distribution, often x-devel or xlib-dev.
You will need such a package from your distribution to compile amaroK (or any X application).

The still should be a -devel or -dev package of xorg. But I do not have and know Mandrake, so sorry, maybe ask google.

Distros should install essential headers like X11 by default.

configure scripts should be a lot more verbose. Autoconf is the biggest pile of **** in the open source world. I wish we didn\'t have to use it. :(

Hello all,

I\'m stuck at this stage of the installation process:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
checking for X... configure: error: Can\'t find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!
chelly@chelly:~/amarok-1.2.4> rpm -qa |grep xorg
xorg-x11-Mesa-6.8.1-15.1
xorg-x11-6.8.1-15.1
xorg-x11-libs-6.8.1-15.7
xorg-x11-fonts-scalable-6.8.1-15.1
xorg-x11-Xvnc-6.8.1-15.1
xorg-x11-server-glx-6.8.1-15.1
xorg-x11-fonts-75dpi-6.8.1-15.5
xorg-x11-server-6.8.1-15.6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

i think i have all the relevant libraries-as well as those above I also have the ones mentioned in the README files: taglib, kdelibs and xine. But when I attempt to configure I still get the message:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
checking for X... configure: error: Can\'t find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is probably something obvious to anyone but a newbie. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

BTW I\'m running Suse 9.2 Pro
