FEATURE REQUEST: priority of amaroK

Tue Mar 22, 2005 6:57 am
I\'m looking for an option to increase priority od amaroK. I think that can be useful, becouse when computer is busy (for example compiling sources) then amaroK stops playing.
I like that option in WinAmp a lot and I\'m missing it now :)

PS. Sorry, if my english was bad ;)

This is hard to implement, as only the root can make the priority of a process higher. You can use \"renice\" as root to alter amaroK\'s priority (though it\'s not the right way to do it).

An increase of your sound buffers might help, if you use alsa, have a look here:

A user can renice there own processes, but they can only lower the priority. Just lower gcc\'s priority so it isn\'t a general cpu hog.
