An amaroK content server

Sun Apr 17, 2005 6:47 am
Hi there!

Since amarok is relying on different (more or less) free content server like amazon or lyrics server, wouldn\'t it be nice to have our own amaroK content server?

Lyrics, reviews, covers etc. in high quality for free. Made by and for amaroK users.

What\'s your optinion?

It seems like the GetHotNewStuff framework was made specifically to do this sort of thing. Maybe that would make it easy?

Well, posting lyrics is a violation of copyright in most countries (except in instances like the song \'Around the World\' by Daft Punk... lyrc.com.ar has it, its funny). Not sure about covers.

We do want to have a KNewStuff thing for scripts and amaroK styles.

Someone suggested integrating Wikipedia into amaroK. That would be kind of cool... I\'m not sure if its currently possible since Wikipedia isn\'t very computer-readable. It would be cool if Wikipedians could mark an article as being about such-and-such artist, with such-and-such discography so that programs like amaroK could look it up.
