best you can get on Windows

If you go here, there is a screenshot that shows amaroK playing with Windows in the background. Apparently this is done by some mystical combination of \"amaroK + VNC + Shouter + Winamp.\" To someone who only knows what half of those things are, this is black magic and seems like it might be illegal.

Anyways, forgoing all the Linux vs. Windows debate, how do I set it up so I can use amaroK through Windows? Is it very complicated?

Vnc is a protocol that allows you to remotely control a desktop (on any platform). There are several clients and server like tightvnc, realvnc, etc, these are open source and perfectly legal. There are problably binary builds available for your distro.

Shoutcast is like broadcasting music over the internet. You can listen to the music by connecting to the server, provided the url of the server. There is a script for amarok (Shouter ), that launches a server for you. Check out the \"About\" button in your script manager for further details.

Winamp is used here on windows to connect to the shoutcast server and listen to the music shoutcasted by amaroK.

So, basically the guy is running a vnc client server on his linux box. He then uses a windows vnc client to remotely control his linux desktop, launches amarok and the Shouter script. Once he\'s done that, he runs winamp and type in the url of the shoutcast server, so all the playlist control is left to amarok.

Hope this is clear :)
