Hi all,
I think Chris has some good points in his long list of advantages and disadvantages of storing rating info within the tags. I also see the problems that come with it and agree with the points of simply not storing the ratings in the ID-tags. But since I am one of those newbies who are not that familiar with sql yet, I wonder if there is any workaround so that moving files will not result in rating-data-loss. If we had ratings stored in the files, there could be an option "erase ratings for marked files" to avoid that other users, who got music from us, had to use the same ratings. But that's probably not a good option, is it? Well, I am not that into the topic yet but I'd like an optional saving within the files... Greez, cobold0815 |

Since version 1.4 moving around a file should not be a problem anymore and amarok will keep scoring and rating.

Ah, yeah, I think I've heard of it before but couldn't place it.
![]() But then I must have done something wrong because I recently moved files through the Krusader and lost all ratings of the mp3s. ![]() edit: Oh, I think I just found a script making that possible at http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=40008. Thanks for the link anyway! ![]() cobold0815
