Amarok unstable

Fri Aug 26, 2005 7:51 am
Hello

I use amarok 1.3 both at home and at work.

It runs fine in my home machine, but at work it crashes sometimes. Other thing I\'ve noticed is that at work, amarok can\'t fetch any album cover.

My setup is:

kde 3.4.2
xine-libs 1.0.2
alsa 1.0.8
glibc 2.3.3
compiled with gcc 3.4.1

(mandrake 10.1)

This is the backtrace:

Well I know this applies:
*Don\'t use aRts. Use xine or gstreamer instead.
And this might apply:
*Don\'t use Hyperthreading with a preempt kernel.

Obviously he is using xine with arts backend.
Change the output plugin in xine to oss or better alsa.

I had previously tried to change the output plugin to alsa, but amarok crashed every time.

Today it finally worked; I guess it helped that I manually terminated arts before aplying the change.

Thanks!

Hmm, does aRts work for you in other circumstances?

Maybe the arts xine plugin needs to be blacklisted.
