I compile my amarok from svn...
At about the same time that the Hardware volume mixer change occured (Aug 2005 sometime), I noticed, as well as the volume slider taking an eternity to change, that the gstreamer alsasink engine stopped working.

Are they connected? To stream a radio station, I have to set the engine to gstreamer osssink (no problems, but I\'d like to know why).

Alsasink is currently broken. Switch to osssink for the time being.
