Amarok used to fade the music out when you close the program. But in the current SVN it just stops abruptly (using xine engine). Would it be possible to get this working again, and also make amarok fade in on startup when \"resume playback on startup\" is enabled?

It only fades when the equalizer is disabled. (technical reasons)
