.shn files

Sat Nov 05, 2005 1:52 pm
Hello amaroK team!

The playback of .shn files (WAVs losslessly compressed with the shorten algorithm) is not supported by the engine I use (xine). What about the other engines? If it is not supported (yet), I think it would be a nice addition in one of the following releases.
What do you think;

We don\'t control the engine playback, it is determined entirely by the engine you use - sorry.

You would have to ask the xine devs for this feature.

Actually shorten (shn) support has been added to ffmpeg. I am on gentoo and I tried it on ppc.
After emerging the latest snapshot of ffmpeg I checked that it could play shn files, it could.
Then I proceeded to recompile xine-lib, no problem again and tested play back of shn file -
once again no problems. I recompiled amarok (1.4.3 first then I upgraded to 1.4.4) tried to play
shn files and no luck  :confused:
My engine is xine and xine plays shn files, what's going on?
