I am using Suse 10.0 and have installed all the mp3/mad pkgs. The xine engine works great playing many audio files including mp3s.
I have always used the gstreamer engine and mp3\'s sound scrathy and underwater. The music is undistinguishable. Has anyone had this problem? What is the solution? I have the guru rpms installed. Thank you for looking at this. Mark Post edited by: mkoljack, at: 2005/11/23 22:56

which sink are you using? On my machine the alsasink output sounds terrible, but the osssink output is excellent.

Thanks oggb4mp3. I was using alsasink which is great in xine. It used to be great in suse 9.3 and is great in fc4. I selected osssink and it sounds perfect. Do you know why the difference between suse 9.3 and 10.0 or is it just an alsa version issue?
I even upgraded to alsa 1.0.10. Oh well, these are high class problems. Thank you for your fast response. Mark Post edited by: mkoljack, at: 2005/11/24 00:10

I believe it is a bug in gstreamer, although I don\'t think markey could figure it out.
