Skipping in Songs

Wed Nov 30, 2005 11:35 am
I run Fedora Core4 and i love this program. However i am having a hard time playing my mp3 files. I can play all my mp3 files however at random times they are alot of skipping messing up. The files are ok so i dont see whats the problem. Can anyone suggest me a good engine to use?

Can happen if your system is under heavy load or some other process is using the hard drive your mp3s are on heavily. If this is the case you hardly can do anything (than upgrading your hardware or somehow relaxing your system load).

Not sure if this still holds, but some time ago the xine engine would consume less cpu time than e.g. gstreamer (I have no experience with the helix engine), so switching to xine could help a little.
