How about creating a VLC engine ? (im willing to try doing that)
also
an apple airport express \"engine\" would be cool too (mabe that
part has to be left to actual engines [xine,gstreamer,vlc,...] )

OK I actually had to look up \"VLC\", it appears to be \"Video Lan Client\".

To answer your question: While in general we do appreciate every coding contribution a lot, new engines is something we don\'t really need at this point. We do have 6 engines at this point, 3 of which are actively maintained. Only the maintained engines are actually useful to anyone, so we\'d rather appreciate you\'d help with out existing engines.

Also, there is little benefit from a new engine. What else could it do apart from playing audio, doing EQ, etc, like our tier 1 engines (xine, gst, helix).

Maybe to let VLC stream what you play to other programs/devices.

I was hoping to be able to do something like that by using VLC\'s streaming or local playback.
well we will see :)
