Quick and dirty normalize option

Wed Jan 18, 2006 10:27 am
Hi
amaroK still has no Replaygain support. But I think at first it would be enough to use a normalizing option like the VDR MP3 plugin:
The plugin scans all files of a playlist in background and stores the loudness information in a file. So all files of the playlist can be played at nearly the same volume. This method works fine with random playlists but is not the right thing to use on whole albums.
So my suggestion is:
1. Use a background scanner for volume scannig.
2. Build in a button to quickly activate/deactivate the normalizing feature. So it is possible to use it only on playlists with random music.
3. Save the information in the database.

PS: This feature is really nice for party playlists.

How about the ReplayGain amaroK Script. It\'s pretty cool.

Yes, Replaygain would be cool, if it would be better supported. Furthermore you have to change all your files (could be a really intensive task for big collections).
Furthermore my suggestion is really simple to use.

I like the idea of a normalizing option just one click away B)
