Feature request: leo.org

Fri Apr 28, 2006 8:57 pm
Hi all,

First of all I would say, that amarok is one of  the reasons, thats wy I prefered Linux  :cool:

The Request:
One great thing would be appreciated, when you would make a "leo.org"-tab near to the "lyrics"-tab for translatition english
(to german)

The Reason
Sometimes I didn't unterstand some words in a lyric and then it would be happy for search this words in leo.org.. And I think a lot
of german speaking people would be happy about this feature...

Sorry about the english, but I am a german speaking guy....  :biggrin:

Does dict.leo.org offer a complete translate service? I thought they only offered a "one word" dictionary?

Considering how bad the translations many automated traslators offer are, I guess putting that feature in the main program would be overkill.

What I'd do is to modify the lyrics plugin of your choice to use a online translator on the lyrics page itself (like google translation or whatever) and then get the lyrics from that page. Should be quite easy to do and doesn't bloat the interface any more. Offer your modification for download and all people in need of translations would be thankful ;)

Hmm, I don't think this feature is suitable for amarok...
You could try 'ding' with 'trans-de-en' dictionary, if you haven't already.
Or get xclip and the leo perl script and then bind something like
  word=`xclip -o`; kdialog --passivepopup "`leo \"$word\"`"
to a shortcut or gesture.
