Torrent support for the podcasts

Thu May 11, 2006 4:40 am
Apparently some sites are already serving their podcasts with links to torrent files instead of the files directly.
Here is an example:
http://www.pbs.org/cringely/nerdtv/rss/
I was wondering if anybody does have interest in getting that into amarok (maybe through a dependency like the bittorrent or ktorrent client). I'm not sure how feasible that is but it sounds interesting...
Didn't find anything on bugs.kde.org so maybe if there is enough traction around the issue someone who knows more about the subject can report it is a wishlist item.

Once amaroK gets video support, I think this would be a must.

I have an idea about this.

KTorrent has a DCOP interface (a shell script called KTShell that's included in the latest SVNs uses it, for example). If so, perhaps all we need to do is download the torrent and link KTorrent to that file, telling to to download that torrent.

I'm going to look a bit further into Amarok scripts. If I get the time, I'll try to make an Amarok script that does this.
