I've noticed since 1.4.3 that amarok displays the updating collection status bar very frequently, every 10 - 20 secs. This would be fine except for the the fact it has an ill side effect, the visualisations no longer run smoothly, every time the update takes place they stutter.

AMD64 3000+
2Gig DDR400

It's definitely not normal. However, there is an easy cure: Disable "Watch folders for changes" in the Collection setup dialog.

But let's try to get to the source of your problem. What file system is your music on?
