Hi,

I upgraded from Amarok 1.4.0a to 1.4.3 and had a behaviour change of the song indicator that resides in the system tray.

In Amarok 1.4.0a, when the song starts, the indicator was "empty" and went filling from bottom to top.
In Amarok 1.4.3, when the song starts, the indicator is "full" and goes emptying from top to bottom.

How do I reverse the effect and use the system tray song indicator the way I used to do before? (in Amarok 1.4.3)

Thanks in advance.

There is no way to configure this. I changed it because I think it's more intuitive if the icon's colour runs out like the sand in a sand timer.

Hi,

Would it be too hard to make it configurable? It's a matter of taste I believe. Some people (like me) may prefer it as the way it was.

I think the new method is much more intuitive also.

If it is that way to make it intuitive than making it configurable isn't a good idea obviously.

dfisek, do you just like it better that way just because you are use to it that way?

Well apparently -somebody- (other than me) did find it to be comprehensive, so made it like that at the first place.

It is a way of looking at a piece of music :

a - There is no music at the beginning of the track. So the indicator is empty. As the track plays along, the song goes on, the more you listen the more the song is complete in your head. When you have listened to all of it,the song is complete and the indicator is full.

b - At the beginning, there is the whole track to play. As it plays, you consume it, the more you consume the less there is to. So the indicator is more empty as you approach the end of the song.

It is not a matter of right or wrong, it's a matter of perception and of course it differs from person to person. Therefore it could be configurable.

I produced a patch that reverts the indicator to its original behavior. Unfortunately I am not a kde programmer, so I couldn't write a patch that makes the option configurable. If anybody else wants to use it, here it is --> http://zzz.fisek.com.tr/files/patches/a ... erse.patch. There is also a Slackware 11.0 package for it --> http://zzz.fisek.com.tr/files/slackware ... 86-1df.tgz
