Hi,
Amarok 1.4.3 is a great system. The interface and playlist management features are top notch. My question concerns the audio itself: while the ten-band graphic EQ provides good sound quality, there is another audio player that uses a more extensive DSP system. The player is called Aqualung -- at aqualung.sf.net -- and it uses the LADSPA plugin architecture for sound processing. LADSPA -- at ladspa.org -- provides absolutely the highest quality that I have ever heard, and is an open architecture that allows developers to create plugins of their own. Has anyone considered allowing for LADSPA support in Amarok? Back in my Windows days, Winamp used third-party DSP plugins, but Amarok with LADSPA support would completely own Winamp with its frontend and backend features... Food for thought anyway. Keep up the good work. |
