is there a way to disable various artist?

i have a huge collection that many different applications use. i manage most of my tags using amarok because it is the easiest one for me. the one thing that drives me absolutely batty is the various artists feature. is there a way to turn it off and just list all the artists in the list?

right-click on the offending albums and select "don't show under various artists"

i don't have that selection, i have 1.4.0, is it in a later version?

1.4.4 is the current version. In earlier versions the menu option might be "mark/unmark as compilation"
