I tend to use the "Load Random Mix" option from the player window while at work especially when I have to do documentation. And while it operates as expected, it would nice to be able to exclude certain directories from being played. Like some of the "live" CD's for instance. Another example would be some of my classical collection. Great for certain occasions but not so great for others. Thanks!

already possible:
- create a smart playlist where you specify the unwanted file path(s).
- create a new dynamic playlist where you select the above smart playlist as a source
- load the new dynamic playlist

If I do that, Amarok produces the following warning:

"The smart-playlist titled Test contains no tracks. Please modify your smart-playlist or choose a different source."

So, what exactly did I do wrong?

depends on what, exactly, you entered for the smart playlist.

That's a good question. Let's go look. Per camico's instructions:

- create a smart playlist where you specify the unwanted file path(s).
Created test a Smart Playlist with "Match any of the following conditions" checked and "File Path is /home/emg/Music/Collective Soul/Home" defined. Saved and closed.

- create a new dynamic playlist where you select the above smart playlist as a source
Created a test dynamic playlist and checked the test smart playlist.

- load the new dynamic playlist
Loaded the playlist and got that error.

And there you have it. So, what did I do wrong?

hey, you should select "File Path contains" or "...does not contain" instead of "File Path is" because "is" would only match a complete filename and not the directory.
