MTP-Detect Error: Creative Zen V.

Wed Jan 10, 2007 3:23 pm
Hi,

I'm using Amarok 1.4.2. I'm trying to connect a Creative Zen 'V. I get the following ouput from 'mtp-detect:

Found non-autodetected device "Creative Zen V" on USB bus...
usb_claim_interface(): Operation not permitted
Connection error.
No devices.

Can anyone advise me as to what to do?

TIA,
Tim

Hi

You wouldnt have Amarok or digkam running at the same time you are running that command by any chance? I get the same error when either of these tow programs are accessing my MTP device (an iriver clix).

haelen,

it is possible you may have forgotten to copy the udev libmtp rules which give you proper permission on the device when it i connected.  You can do so this way:

go into the libmtp folder where you compiled it.

sudo cp libmtp.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/

reboot or restart udev, it should work.

For more info on how to install libmtp and properly, you can check this ubuntu thread which can give you good info for any linux flavor

Howto make autodetection work using HAL/DBUS ? When I connect my MTP device, it creates the dev entry but I have to manually add it.

1.4.2? How about upgrading to 1.4.4 or the soon-to-be-released 1.4.5?

Indeed - there was no mtp support in amarok with 1.4.2

Try the command "mtp-hotplug".  After that, your device should be recognized by amarok, when connecting it to the Computer.

MacBook, 2GHz C2D, 3GB RAMM, 120GB HDD.

Amarok 2.0 Beta from KDE-on-Mac.
