What's the possibility of having a print out button for an index of the collection?

Format something like:
Cover Pic (Optional) -------- Artist ------- Album -------- Tracks (optional)

Maybe some selection options like:
Year (1997 to 2001)
Artists (A to C)
Genre (Rock, pop etc)

I guess this could be done in a script?

I miss this as well.

One way could be to populate your selection into the playlist and then turning on the 'Web Control' script or some other plylist2html scripts. Then you can view your playlist at http://localhost:4774/ and print from there. Maybe one can enhance the script to output in XML and then using XSLT processors to generate the desired HTML formatted output.

Seems like a lot of interaction, I'd rather let the computer do the work 

I did have a go at it when I had my system set up to use MySQL but I couldn't easily identify the relationships between album and cover.

A script would be nice. But I don't think it should be a feature in Amarok.
