Is GStreamer available if Amarok is compiled from source?

I miss GStreamer.  Amarok seemed a lot more stable with it.  In fact, I miss it so much that I have endeavored to compile Amarok myself.  Unfortunately, I notice that running ./configure with the --with-gstreamer switch doesn't seem to do anything.

Has support for GStreamer also been completely excised from the source?  I notice there's still a reference to it in the 1.4.5 README, specifically:
Q: I have the required version of GStreamer installed but configure doesn't find it!

Does this part of the readme need to be updated?

Ok, I've just updated the README. Thanks for noting.

Sigh.  That line gave me such hope.

Oh well.  Maybe I can still find a binary of the old version.

Why not try to find out what's wrong with your xinelib? You see, normally it's very stable.

Alternatively you could try the Helix engine.
