Hi folks,
I need some help with my database (Amarok 1.4.3 with MySQL 5.0.24a) : i've retagged and moved some songs with EasyTag and thought a "re analyze the collection" would correct the databse ... But as you probably know ... no I now have dead links and duplicates (in navigation tree, not in files. How could i fix that ? thx Narsil |

If you were using a later version of amarok, this would probably not be an issue
![]() There were many improvements in file tracking since 1.4.3. Probably your only options would be to either manually edit your database (tricky) or to delete the db and start again.

1.4.5 is installed, but this didn't solve my problem. So i've decided to rebuild the DB.
I've found the package on the ubuntu feisty repository, not on the kubuntu edgy as said here http://kubuntu.org/announcements/amarok-1.4.5.php Thanks for your help narsil |

Actually, now that I think about it, that has happened to me. Did you have a duplicate for EVERY song? If so, the only way I could fix it was rebuilding the database. You have the right idea!

Yes, that's it : i did a rescan of the database (version 1.4.3), and it added a new database entry for every song ... 32'000 !
But now, with 1.4.5, i've seen there's 2 menu entry : rescan datatbase and update database. I don't really understand the difference but will never hit the rescan ! Anyway, editing tags now updates the database entry (that wasn't true un 1.4.3) and changing the file's path (trough Amarok's tool) also updates the database link and doesn't leave a dead link. It does all i need to maintain my collection : nice ! Even if on Ubuntu, crashes at close are frequent. |
