So there I was, completely bored at the Pentaho booth at Linuxtag in Berlin.
And I figured. Mmmm, didn't I remember that Amarok stores my music collection in a SQLite database somewhere? So I went over to the Amarok booth and asked. They told me it was stored in ~/.kde/shared/apps/amarok/collection.db Fired up Kettle, copied the data to a small datawarehouse with a fact table & some dimensions & created a few reports on it. Actually, you could probably do reports on them directly. If anyone wants the transformations, metadata model or anything, just let me know. You can take any angle with it: funny things like total filesize per artist, total length per album, that sort of thing.
