Hi,

I have a Philips PSA 250/17 mp3 player. It is a pain to upload music to it on XP so I want to try it with my Linux box.

When I connect it to my pc Amarok detects is as an MTP device. However, when I hit connect, it says "Could not connect MTP device", "MTP device could not be opened." There is no further information I could find about the problem.

I have Amorak-1.4.5,  libmtp-0.1.5.1 on Fedora 7.

Do you have any idea on how to configure Amarok for this device? Or do you know any other software for it?

Thanks...

Try Amarok 1.4.6.  It seems to have something extra for Philips players.

My Philips GoGear HDD 1630 now works with Amarok for the first time, connecting in "Philips PTP Mode".

Well if you're into compiling, grab the newest libmtp from [1] and amarok source ([2]) and recompile them both. LibMTP is a relatively young project, and their support for media devices increases rapidly with each release. My iRiver T30 worked very unstable and only in read-only mode with stock Ubuntu 7.04 and Amarok, but recompilation of newest versions made it work pleasantly in both read and write mode. Good luck!
